MK Shopping Centre
Working through 30 nights
ESK were contracted to decorate 1000m2 of the perforated, slatted steel ceiling at the centre:mk shopping precinct, in central Milton Keynes. All work had to take place at night and the project had to be completed within a 30-day timeframe.
As the ceiling was at a height of 16m, the elevation platforms and all other equipment needed to be stored away after each shift, so the shopping centre could resume daytime trading without disruption.
ESK’s specialist access equipment was stored in a designated compound which was erected and maintained by the redecorating team. All services needed to be fully protected, each evening, before work could commence.
Brewers Protective Coatings produced a specification tailored to both ESK’s and the client’s requirements, which included quick-drying water-borne products, which would fully adhere to the difficult substrate. Grease had to be removed from each panel by hand before two coats of Rust-Oleum Noxyde could be applied, which gave a uniform matt finish.
